Barchart - Sugar prices settled mixed on Thursday, with NY sugar falling to a 7-week low. Dollar strength is weighing on sugar prices, as the dollar index ($DXY) rallied to a 2-month high on Thursday.

However, NY sugar prices recovered from their worst level, and London sugar moved higher on Thursday after sugar trader Czarnikow cut its global 2026/26 sugar surplus estimate from 1.4 MMT to a deficit of -10,000 MT as Brazil’s sugar mills produce more ethanol than sugar due to the surge in crude oil prices.
